Welcome to Not the Perfect Pastor.

If you’re looking for someone who has all the answers, you’ve come to the wrong place.

But if you’re looking for an honest conversation about following Jesus in the middle of everyday life, I hope you’ll feel at home here.

I’ve been a pastor for more than thirty-five years. During that time I’ve preached thousands of sermons, celebrated baptisms and weddings, stood beside hospital beds, buried people I loved, and walked through my own seasons of joy, disappointment, success, failure, and grace.

One thing I’ve learned is this: following Jesus isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming more like Christ, one day at a time.

That’s why this site exists.

Not to offer polished faith, but authentic faith.

Not to impress people, but to encourage them.

Not to pretend we’ve arrived, but to remind one another that Jesus is still forming us.

If you’re new here, these are the places I’d encourage you to begin.

Start with My Story

Every journey has a beginning. These reflections tell a little of mine.

Following Jesus

Discipleship is more than information. It is the lifelong process of being formed into the image of Christ.

Begin with:

Prayer

Prayer is not primarily about informing God. Prayer is about forming us.

These articles explore what Jesus teaches about prayer and why it matters.

Life Together

Following Jesus was never intended to be a solo journey.

Explore these reflections on the Church, community, and life together.

Walking Through Difficult Days

Some of life’s deepest lessons are learned in seasons we never would have chosen.

These reflections were written from those places.

Where to Go Next

New reflections are published regularly, usually growing out of sermons I’ve preached or lessons God is teaching me in everyday life.

If something here encourages you to follow Jesus a little more faithfully, I’d love for you to subscribe, share an article with a friend, or simply come back again.

Thanks for stopping by.

Grace and peace,

Lynn Malone
